Toshi Futamata is a senior researcher and recognized authority on Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) and licensing negotiations. With over a decade of experience, he specializes in strategic SEP management and practical training in IP negotiations, equipping professionals with essential skills to navigate the global IP landscape. Since 2013, he has chaired the SEP Expert Group (Japan) and contributed significantly to academic and professional training. He served as a Senior Visiting Researcher at the University of Tokyo’s Institute for Future Initiatives (2013–2025), and as a Tutor for the university’s Strategic Task Force Leader Training Course (2014–2024). He has also been a Visiting Researcher at the Mitsubishi Research Institute since 2014.

Geely車セルラーロイヤリティ決定を中国裁判所に求める　Geely seeks global FRAND rate for Nokia cellular SEPs in China

Jan. 27 2026 by Toshi Futamata 中国の有力OEM Geelyグループの車セルラーロイヤリティを巡る「二正面作戦」係争が注目を集めている。Geely (吉利控股グループ）は年間400万台あまりを販売する世界7-8位のOEMで、傘下にはVolvoを有する。今回の係争はAvanciのライセンサーであるNokiaとの訴訟である。 1.
